the question of getting hurt hardly happens if one knows ones own limitations. Any good cause will invite criticism and why should one expect apologies. Even after apologising a person may or may not change fundamentally for the old habits die hard.

When life itself is not permanent the question of making some one sad with the truth looks not so good to me. If your lie makes a person happy then i feel the lie is better thsn the bitter truth provided it is not in your vested interest to betray the person to believe ur words and make him much more sad later when he comes to know of the truth. Doctors resort to this practice of telling the patients that they would be fine even after knowing fully well that the concerned patient has only a few hours/days left. Here it gives the confidence to the patients concerned. Telling a lie for a good cause is not a sin dear friend
